Q: Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself (personally and professionally)?
I am Shareholder, Director, and Chief Marketing Officer of S.E.A. Business Centre Pte Ltd. Being born and grown up in Indonesia, lived and worked in greater China (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, China), now living in Singapore as Singapore citizen, I have been traveling extensively in Asia Pacific and Europe for work, business, and leisure; I learn a lot about cultural and business diversity and how to support my clients and partners in dealing with them to grow their businesses. When not working, I enjoy reading, swimming, cycling, skiing, local food and mother nature.
Q: How did you get started in this business?
S.E.A. Business Centre Pte Ltd is a joint venture of 3 companies that have been running in total of more than 40 years. Owners of 3 companies (in export-import, banking/finance, and information technology industries) met 2 years ago and agreed to combine our strength to grow even faster.
Q: Can you describe your customers / what type of customers do you have?
Our customers are primarily small and medium enterprises who are manufacturers / exporters / importers / traders / distributors in Southeast Asia / China / India / Europe.
Q: What are some of your “keys to success” in building your customer base?
We have global view and local experience in export/import/banking/finance/information technology. Our advice to clients / partners is think big but start small – which is very important in strategy planning and execution. We provide end-to-end, integrated export/import sales and marketing program. While everybody is going “online” with e-commerce / e-shop, we go “offline” with export/import showroom and tour concepts.
Q: Is there anything about your business that you feel makes it special?
We don’t have our own products. We sell our clients / partners’ products. We focus on sales/marketing activities and distribution network.
Q: Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? In the next ten years?
As of now we have sister companies and distribution channels in 5 countries, will be 10 countries by end of 2017. We have exit strategy to be implemented in the next 5 years.
