Interview with Ross Naddei of Megapulse Australia

Q: Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself (personally and professionally)?

A: I was born in Italy in 1960 and migrated to Australia with my family in 1973. In 1990 I founded a battery company and later founded Megapulse Australia in 1995 as a result of research into ways to stop battery degradation.

Q: How did you get started in this business?

A: Since leaving school I always knew I would never be happy flying someone else’s ship, so my first business venture was importing and distributing a high performance line of AGM batteries.

Passion to solve problems was the driving factor in moving out of the first business venture after 5 years and starting Megapulse Australia.

We launched our technology in 1997 and have continued to refine and innovate over the past 20 years. Our current model is worlds ahead of our initial release.

Q: Can you describe your customers / what type of customers do you have?

A: Our customers are primarily OEM Manufacturers and Fleet Operators as our product lends itself very well to commercial environments and a smaller share of our customers are end-users.

Q: What are some of your “keys to success” in building your customer base?

A: Our key successes have been to gain valuable credibility by having our technology installed on over 115,000 Volvo, Scania and Mercedes vehicles after each company carried out extensive long term field tests (7 years, 5 years and 2 years respectively) and verified for themselves all the benefits our technology provides to the electrical system and on-board batteries.

Q: Is there anything about your business that you feel makes it special?

A: Our technology is beneficial to all land based and sea based applications. It is particularly friendly to the environment because; by keeping electrical systems healthy, our customers save on un-necessary down-time, maintenance and repairs.  Less fuel is used by engines running at maximum voltage and Batteries are kept in service longer, keeping them out of the recycling loop 2 to 3 times longer which ultimately reduces lead in our environment. As such our market applications are huge and span the entire globe.

Q: Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? In the next ten years?

A: We are in growth phase, we will see 50{bfa08a400c7550404055ff04715e84c9172815d33c25eb3b84e230636ecdc007} growth in the next 12 months and we expect to expand our operations internationally over the next 5 years.
