Q1: Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself (personally and professionally)?
I am a 47 year old entrepreneur hailing from Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria (West Africa) and deal in the oil, gas and real estate sectors. My educational qualifications include a Higher National Diploma (HND) degree in Marketing and a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) degree in Marketing obtained from the Kogi Federal Polytechnic and Lagos State University respectively. I have served in various capacities gaining experiences both formally and informally which has made me survive the tussles of business management and able to stand the test of time. A few of my previous jobs have included:

  1. Principal Store Officer at Manufacturing and Technical company (M&T), Lagos State
  2. Marketing/Logistics Manager at Grema Mohammed and Co. (Haulage Company), Lagos State.
  3. National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) internship at the National Petroleum Investment Services (NAPIMS); a Subsidiary of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) where I served in the Crude Oil Marketing Division being assigned to the Shipping and Terminal {S&T}, Crude Oil Stock Management {COSM}, and General Marketing sectors.

Professionally, I am a full time realtor and CEO of Asanat Investment Limited. Asanat Investment Limited is an independent real estate company located in the Lekki area of Lagos State, Nigeria. We focus on property development, management, marketing and sale of real estate products and services with special skills in facility maintenance. We specialized in developing innovative & unparalleled luxury apartments, duplexes, detached homes and commercial outlets to serve our ever growing clientele.

Asanat Investment Limited was incorporated in December, 2001 as an indigenous firm with clear vision to bridge the 17 million housing deficit gap in Nigeria. Additionally, we also deal in developed and underdeveloped real estate all over Nigeria especially within the south west of Nigeria and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. Presently, the company is expanding into the downstream petroleum sector

Q2: How did you get started in this business?
We started as real estate agents in Lagos State where we source properties available for sale, lease or rent. Getting the right client to buy the right properties from the rightful owners hassle-free has helped us to grow. With our solid marketing tools and techniques we were able to expand our reach to many people looking for opportunities to own their homes. As the business started to become more successful we began directly buying distress properties to either renovate for sale and/or directly sell to the market. Today we keep growing stronger and expanding our reach to own more, sell more and gain more. It has never been a smooth journey to get where we are today yet we have managed to persevere in the face of economic uncertanties.

Q3: Can you describe your customers / what type of customers do you have?
Our customers include (but are not limited to) executives and individuals with substantial, long-term experience in real estate such as existing property owners and private/commercial real estate developers. Our customers also include real estate industry service providers, such as civil engineers, financial analysts, lawyers, architects, urban planners, brokers etc. We also have opportunities for low and average income earners to own properties at the least cost through installment payment plans which makes them good customers.

Q4: What are some of your “keys to success” in building your customer base?
We provide a broad spectrum of investment, in retail, commercial and residential opportunities for our customers to reduce risk and enhance return on equity. We build long-term and beneficial relations with our shareholders, partners and customers to enable easy opening and closure of transactions.

Q5: Is there anything about your business that you feel makes it special?
YES. This includes the provision of quality real estate products and services & adding value by contributing to society and economic growth. Creation of an equal opportunity and professional environment for our employees which, in turn, helps to grow our business. Providing consultations on all types of real estate fields; owning, managing and developing properties as well as leasing, renting and selling them.

Q6: Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? In the next ten years?
We intend to keep building upon our successes and learning from our weaknesses in order to improve and innovate as time goes by. We intend to capitalise on our existing business reputation to make it even stronger and become one of the best real estate providers in Nigeria with an extensive property portfolio across the country.
