Q: How did you get started in this business?
I had minor disagreement with the boss of a company I was working for and decided to resign. With no job in hand I sat at home for a couple of days before I decided to set out into business for myself. I discussed the idea with a couple of my colleagues as well as some potential customers and everyone promised to support the new venture. Finally, we started and haven’t looked back!
Q: Can you describe your customers / what type of customers do you have?
We have all kinds of customers, ranging from auto parts through to fashion however the most challenging segment is the handling of temperature controlled cargo (typically pharma, meat and other perishables) as well as dangerous goods cargo. Because of the uniqueness of the requirements for the latter we set forth to learn everything we could about this segment and, as a result, are the one of the most experienced specialists in the country for temperature controlled and dangerous goods cargo. Our customers range from the largest pharmaceutical company in the country through to some of the largest meat and frozen goods exporters as well.
Q: What are some of your “keys to success” in building your customer base?
The areas where we put a lot of emphasis are:
- Ensuring that we have a very strong operational team, supported by an excellent team for after-sales service. This is particularly important as we are often handling temperature controlled and high value products, so being able to process requests in a timely and professional manner is essential.
- Refining and building upon our expertise in the door to door shipment of temperature controlled cargo, something that not many other forwarders undertake due to the chances of excursion of temperatures. By accepting the challenge of handling sensitive cargo we have created a great amount of goodwill and this has helped to increase our customer base.
Q: Is there anything about your business that you feel makes it special?
The ability to provide superior support for special shipments of virtually any kind. Our professional team goes the extra mile to support special project shipments, dangerous goods shipments, pharma and time-sensitive shipments in ways that other providers would not. We have achieved great things in this business and have been awarded as the Best Pharma 3 PL company from India for the years 2015 and 2016.
Q: Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? In the next ten years?
We are expecting somewhere between 10-30 percent growth in our business on a year to year basis. We are very confident that these are conservative growth figures as India’s Pharma and Dangerous Goods cargo segments are steadily increasing in volume as new markets open for Indian goods.
