Q: Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself (personally and professionally)?
I am a native Kenyan by birth and married with two children. Professionally I am a nutritionist but my real passion is travelling which is why I started a tour and travel company. Aside from travelling I enjoy listening to music and reading.
Q: How did you get started in this business?
I have always loved and been interested in travelling. Travel is part of my soul, part of who I am. Growing up in Kenya I dreamed of the many exciting places I could visit and unique people and cultures I could learn more about. As I grew older I began visiting some of the places I wanted to see
Q: Can you describe your customers / what type of customers do you have?
My customers come from virtually every country and sector. From individuals and families right up through to businesses and large corporations. My agency covers it all. We can also help the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events) sector with their unique needs.
Q: What are some of your “keys to success” in building your customer base?
Being a travel agent takes dedication, travel expertise and excellent interpersonal skills. We provide a personal service with customized itineraries based on a collaboration with the traveler so that our trips are tailored based on their unique wants and needs. We leverage solid personal relationships with suppliers, like hotels and airlines, and communicate with our customers every step of the way.
Q: Is there anything about your business that you feel makes it special?
I like to make my customers vacation planning easy, so they can sit back and relax leading up to their vacation or trip. I am there to help if problems arise during their travels. Finally, I love to hear about their vacation or business travel when they get back. Nothing makes me happier than to hear about an awesome time clients had on their trip.
Q: Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? In the next ten years?
We see the business growing over the next few years. There are many reasons for this but the primary factor is that consumers across the board are placing more value on experiences than on the acquisition of possessions and travel is one of those experiences that is highly sought after and highly addictive.
There are online booking sites however people are overloaded with information from the Internet and planning a vacation can be quite a tedious task, so many prefer to let someone do the job and use their time more productively. We remove the guesswork involved in booking travel and can provide more detailed information about the most convenient and economical way to get from A to B and what the customer can do along the way.
For corporate travelers, enlisting the help of an agent is an absolute no-brainer. It’s no secret how complex business travel can be, especially when navigating unexpected changes to itineraries and strict corporate travel policies.
