Stockport, England:Ā Manchester-based Laser Quantum, manufacturer of continuous wave and ultrafast lasers, has had itsĀ finesseĀ 6W laser used as part of a Guinness World Record attempt. In conjunction with ITV, the record was set up and broken on the popular TV programme āItās not rocket scienceā. Ā TheĀ finesseĀ laser popped 200 balloons across a 40m distance in front of a live audience. With Manchester being the 2016 European city of science, Laser Quantum is contributing to the world-class science research and technologies coming out of the city and manufacturing world record breaking lasers is another string to its bow.
Laser Quantum enjoys working with the community and often completes charity challenges in order to raise money for various local communities. Working with ITV to achieve this record enabled Laser Quantum to extend its community work further and engage with a larger population about the excitement of science and technology, an area it is passionate about.
Andrew Wells, Sales and Marketing Director of Laser Quantum said āIt was good fun to take part in a world record attempt, and it did demonstrate the capabilities of theĀ finesse. In order to deliver the required energy to burst the balloons over 40m, the beam shape and divergence need to be of high quality. Iām glad the record was broken on a popular TV programme as this will also engage children in science and technology- the scientists of the future.ā
