Cambodia’s rice export sector has reached a new milestone, with the country earning over $1.5 billion from the export of paddy and milled rice in the first ten months of 2024. This achievement highlights the Kingdom’s growing role in the global agricultural trade.

Between January and October, Cambodia exported 502,029 tonnes of milled rice to 66 countries and territories, demonstrating its competitive strength in international markets. Notably, the European Union became one of Cambodia’s largest markets, with 26 EU countries importing 254,945 tonnes of milled rice worth $196 million. Additionally, Cambodia’s rice exports to ASEAN nations totaled 100,996 tonnes, contributing $66 million to the nation’s economy. China, a significant trading partner, imported 93,197 tonnes valued at $61 million.

This expansion is a direct result of improvements in rice production, storage capabilities, and product quality, which have enhanced Cambodia’s position in the global marketplace. The Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) credits these developments with boosting Cambodia’s rice exports and its reputation for high-quality agricultural products.

With a clear commitment to further enhancing the rice sector, Cambodia is well-poised for continued success in global trade, reinforcing its position as a key agricultural exporter.
