Brazil’s orange juice exports have achieved impressive revenue growth, despite facing production challenges. Between July and September 2024, Brazilian exporters generated USD 905.3 million from orange juice shipments, reflecting a 42.3% increase compared to the same period last year, which saw USD 636.1 million. This surge in revenue underscores the continued global demand for Brazilian orange juice, even as volumes experienced a decline.

The lower export volume of 207,500 tons from July to September 2024, a 27% drop compared to the previous year, is primarily due to the effects of adverse weather conditions on citrus production. However, the recent rainfall in late October has brought relief to the crops, and there is optimism that it will improve the quality of fruits still on the trees.

While weather-related challenges have impacted production over the past few seasons, Brazil remains a key player in the global agricultural trade, with strong export revenue reflecting the international market’s confidence in Brazilian citrus products. The favorable weather conditions in the coming months are expected to further support the growth of exports, especially with the upcoming Tahiti lime season.

Brazil’s ability to maintain strong export revenue amidst these challenges highlights the resilience and importance of its agricultural sector in the global trade landscape.
