Vietnam's coffee industry is experiencing a significant surge, with exports to Spain more than doubling in value this year. According to data from the General Department of Customs, Vietnamese coffee exports to Spain reached approximately 55,380 tons in the first four months of 2024, valued at $193.1 million. This represents a 53.7% increase in volume and a remarkable 136.6% increase in value compared to the same period last year.
In April alone, Vietnam exported 10,740 tons of coffee to Spain, worth $42.66 million. This marks an 18.7% rise in volume and a 102.8% increase in value year-on-year. The average export price of Vietnamese coffee to the Spanish market in April was $3,971 per ton, showing a 9.1% month-on-month rise and a 70.8% increase year-on-year.
For the first four months of the year, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee to Spain was $3,487 per ton, up 53.9% compared to the same period last year. This impressive growth highlights the strong demand for Vietnamese coffee in the Spanish market.
Domestically, the price of robusta coffee has rebounded after previously falling below VND100,000 per kilogram (approximately $4). As of Wednesday, coffee prices in Vietnam ranged between VND115,700 and VND117,200 per kilogram ($4.39 to $4.55). Favorable weather conditions in the Central Highlands and exchange rate fluctuations have contributed to the restrained yet steady recovery of coffee prices.
