Turkey's tea exports have made impressive strides, reaching close to $15 million from January to July 2024. This achievement underscores the country's growing presence in global markets, with Turkish tea being shipped to 114 countries, regions, and free zones.
During this period, Turkey exported 3,126 tons of tea, generating $14.89 million in revenue. Belgium emerged as the top importer, acquiring $5.25 million worth of Turkish tea, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany with imports valued at $2.2 million and $1.13 million, respectively.
The expansion of Turkish tea into new markets—such as Dubai, Mauritania, Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia, Egypt, South Sudan, Cuba, Burundi, Central African Republic, Namibia, Sao Tome and Principe, Venezuela, Djibouti, Colombia, Cambodia, and Slovenia—demonstrates Turkey's growing global reach.
A significant 47% of the tea exports originated from the Rize region, a key tea-producing area, contributing 1,983 tons and generating $6.9 million. The robust performance of Turkey's tea sector is expected to continue, with prospects for even greater export success by year-end.
This remarkable growth highlights Turkey’s effective expansion into international markets and reflects the rising global demand for Turkish tea.
