South Korea has introduced a new pre-registration policy for grape exports to Taiwan, effective from May 23, 2024. This policy aims to enhance the safety and quality of Korean grapes, aligning with Taiwan’s updated inspection procedures for fresh fruits.
Under this policy, grape producers and exporters will need to meet specific safety standards, including obtaining identification numbers to ensure thorough management of grape safety throughout the export process. The steps include mandatory training on agricultural chemical use, registration for export purposes, submission of chemical residue analyses, and securing a phytosanitary certificate.
Officials have expressed confidence that this new policy will improve the competitive edge of Korean grapes in the international market. Efforts will also be made to promote the safety and high quality of these grapes to support continued export growth.
This initiative highlights South Korea's commitment to upholding high standards and expanding its export opportunities in the global market.
