Peru continues to expand its influence in global trade with a positive increase in blueberry exports, reflecting a 4% growth in volume for August 2024. A total of 21,621 tons of blueberries were exported, contributing $154.4 million to Peru's economy. While the average pricing saw adjustments, with a 12% decrease to $7.14 per kilogram, this development highlights Peru’s growing importance in key international markets.
The United States emerged as a standout destination, driving a 20% increase in volume and a 5% boost in value, importing 11,525 tons valued at $84 million. This steady growth underscores the robust demand for Peruvian blueberries, with the U.S. market representing 54.2% of Peru's total blueberry exports.
China also remains a key player, despite slight decreases in volume and value. The country imported 3,663 tons for $28 million, further solidifying its role as a significant partner in Peru’s agricultural trade. The Netherlands, another important market, imported 4,032 tons for $26 million, showcasing the reach of Peruvian blueberries in Europe.
These export figures reflect Peru’s strong position as a leading supplier in the global blueberry market, providing opportunities for continued trade expansion and investment.
