Peru's President Dina Boluarte is set to visit China in June for a high-level meeting with President Xi Jinping, with potential beef exports to China among the key topics for discussion. This announcement was made by Agriculture Minister Angel Manero on Wednesday following a cabinet meeting at the national palace.
Manero highlighted that the agenda for the upcoming presidential summit includes 29 issues, with the prospective beef trade being a significant focus. He estimated that beef exports to China could potentially boost Peru's economy by $3 billion to $4 billion.
This strategic meeting will precede the Lima-hosted Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) trade forum in November, where President Xi Jinping, along with 20 other world leaders, is expected to attend.
The Chinese leader's presence at the APEC summit is anticipated to align with the inauguration of the Chancay megaport. This new port, constructed on Peru's Pacific coast by Hong Kong-based Cosco Shipping Ports, is poised to enhance future trade with Asia.
