Kazakhstan aims to ramp up its export activities to Uzbekistan, with plans to increase supplies across 255 items, totaling nearly $500 million. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov highlighted this objective during a productive meeting with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Tashkent on March 15.
Bektenov's visit to Uzbekistan included a meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where the leaders celebrated the strong strategic partnership between the two nations. Bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached $4.5 billion last year, showcasing the robust economic ties between the two countries.
In discussions with Prime Minister Aripov, Bektenov stressed the importance of enhancing transit and transport capabilities in the region, emphasizing potential collaboration in water resource management.
Both governments acknowledged significant advancements in industrial cooperation, with ongoing projects totaling $2.6 billion and generating over 13,300 jobs. An additional 43 promising projects are in the pipeline, reflecting the vast potential for further economic collaboration.
The Central Asia International Centre for Industrial Cooperation is poised to play a crucial role in unlocking additional trade opportunities and fostering closer economic integration between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
During his visit, Bektenov also explored initiatives to streamline customs clearance procedures through electronic declaration systems. Additionally, he toured Texnopark, a group of industrial enterprises, to witness cutting-edge manufacturing processes for various industrial and construction products.
The visit underscores Kazakhstan's commitment to deepening economic ties with Uzbekistan and leveraging mutual strengths for shared prosperity and growth.
