Poland's technology exports have experienced impressive growth for the twelfth year in a row, according to a recent report from the Polish Development Fund, a government-backed investment organization. In 2023, the technology sector accounted for 9.6% of the country’s total exports, a notable increase from 9.2% the previous year, reflecting a robust upward trend in sales across nearly all areas of the high-tech industry.
Despite Poland's low ranking in a recent European Innovation scorecard, where it placed 23rd out of 27 EU member states, the report underscores the nation's positive trajectory in technology exports. While countries like Denmark, Sweden, and Finland lead the rankings for technological innovation, Poland's steady growth in research and development is noteworthy.
The Polish Development Fund highlights that the nation is making significant strides in innovation, having increased its investment in research and development from 0.55% of GDP in 2004 to 1.46% by 2022. This systematic improvement demonstrates Poland’s commitment to enhancing its technological capabilities and catching up with its European counterparts.
As Poland continues to bolster its technology exports, the outlook remains promising, paving the way for further advancements in the high-tech sector and contributing positively to the nation's economy.
