Turkey's coffee export industry has reached impressive heights, generating a total of $154.7 million in revenues over nearly five years. Although Turkey does not grow coffee beans, the country has distinguished itself by excelling in processing and exporting high-quality coffee products to a diverse array of international markets.
Data from the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK) highlights a consistent increase in coffee exports, which rose from $20.2 million in 2020 to $39.7 million in 2023. This positive trend continues in 2024, with coffee shipments reaching $34.5 million in the first eight months of the year, reflecting the growing global demand for Turkish coffee.
Key markets for Turkish coffee have emerged, including the United States, the Netherlands, Turkish Cyprus, and Saudi Arabia. These markets showcase Turkey's ability to meet the needs of a wide-ranging global clientele. In 2024, Turkish Cyprus and Saudi Arabia were identified as primary destinations for Turkey's coffee exports, further expanding the country’s international presence.
While Turkey has invested over $1 billion in coffee imports during this period, primarily from Brazil, the Netherlands, and Germany, the emphasis on exports demonstrates the sector's potential for growth and trade balance. By leveraging its strengths in coffee processing and enhancing market access, Turkey is well-positioned to strengthen its role in the global coffee trade.
As Turkey’s coffee sector continues to thrive, industry leaders remain optimistic about future opportunities to expand their reach and elevate their brand on the world stage.
