India's automobile exports experienced a notable 15.5% growth in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year, according to data compiled by a leading industry association.
The total exports of vehicles reached 1,192,577 units, up from 1,032,449 units in the corresponding quarter last year.
Exports of passenger vehicles recorded a strong 19% increase, totaling 180,483 units compared to 152,156 units in the previous year. Significant contributions to this growth came from major manufacturers in the sector.
Two-wheeler exports also demonstrated robust performance, rising by 17% to 923,148 units from 791,316 units in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, exports of commercial vehicles grew by 8%, totaling 15,741 units compared to 14,625 units last year. However, three-wheeler exports saw a slight decline of 3%, with shipments totaling 71,281 units compared to 73,360 units last year.
