Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable exports have experienced a significant growth spurt, reaching 251,200 tons within just two months, according to data released by the Statistics Agency. Valued at approximately $150 million, these exports represent a notable increase compared to the same period last year.
During the initial months of 2024, Uzbekistan reported a remarkable uptick in its fruit and vegetable exports, soaring to 115,500 tons, marking a 1.9-fold increase. This development underscores Uzbekistan's expanding role in the global agricultural export market.
The principal markets for Uzbekistan's agricultural exports were Pakistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China, with these nations absorbing a significant share of the exports. Pakistan emerged as the top importer, accounting for 26.6% of the exports, followed closely by Russia at 26.1%. Kazakhstan and China also played pivotal roles, capturing 9.1% and 9% of the market shares, respectively.
This surge in exports has notably bolstered Uzbekistan's agricultural sector's contribution to its export economy, with fruits and vegetables comprising 4.1% of the total exports during the period under review. The increase in export volume underscores Uzbekistan's competitive advantage in the international market, supported by its favorable climatic conditions and strategic location.
